Hey all!
Happy Monday to everyone!
I wanted to share my new shelf that I am OVER the moon about! And yep, you guessed it...I got it at an Antique Mall...specifically called The Depot at Gibson Mill and holy crap the word huge is understatement. It was a heaven for all fellow antiquers located in Concord, NC located in an old mill which made it that much better with old squeaky floors and exposed red brick surrounding the vendors' shops. It was truly a great place to put back the old history that collectors have saved and most of the vendor's did a very nice job in setting up their area which made it that much easier to look at those vintages, antiques. So, if you are in the NC area and are an antique-er like me than definitely check out this historical and HUGE antique mall.
It took my Mom and I about 2.5 hours to cover the whole building but when we got to the back of the building.... the prices were a little bit in my range and I was excited to see a whole wall and stacks of wood. Why I was excited? Because the wood was all natural with a mixture of light browns and dark browns which combined a richness and the best idea of making a shelf out of...you know those shelfs that you see in the New York studio apartments? Yeah, one of those. It's the perfect size and the perfect colors as well as the perfect price at $10!! $10 people for a long and wooden piece of nature!
Let me show you!
How-To
You'll need to sand it down first, make sure you give it as smooth as you can
(Optional) Grab a gloss spray can and spray it down if you would like to have that glossy glow but personally, I love the natural-ness of the wood look
You'll need to buy some shelf brackets and have either a drill or an electric screwdriver and drill in screws through the wood. The wood might be thick so you will have to screw it in harder than a normal material.
Once the brackets are screwed through the wood, you'll need to align it with wherever you are putting it over. So, I suggest also getting a leveler to make sure it is even on both sides...especially if you are putting it in the center of the room or on the wall.
Once it is leveled and to your liking, you will then screw the brackets into the wall and on top of the wood and ta-da; you're done!
