Michealangelo Art Exhibit: #SistineCLT

Hey all,

So, this past weekend, Justin and I went to the Michealangelo Art Exhibit in uptown Charlotte and it was a really cool experience! I'm all about the #artlife and I love seeing it in person because that makes the experience that much cooler and plus you can see all of the details instead of it being virtual. The best part was that the exhibit was in like an old abandoned-looking warehouse with exposed brick on the inside...my kind of place! When we walked inside, it really immersed you into the gallery-like environment with it being dark and limited lighting and then as we proceeded, we were introduced to his exhibit and who he was as an artist.

It wasn't a long exhibit but the way they laid all of his work out was truly amazing as you can see from the pictures. They also had the option of having the audio talk to you about each of his pieces in the exhibit but I wanted to have my own experience and perspective without hearing a monotone voice in the background. So, as we walked into the gallery, I was immediately taken away at how amazing and exuberant his work was in the building. I really wasn't expecting art to be on the ceiling but it was (in a sense) and it made sense since his original pieces are truly on the ceiling of buildings.

I literally had to look 360 because his work was on the ceiling and left and right to us but eventually just made a plan to come back on the other side instead of spinning my head into all directions. There was a good amount of people in there so we kind of had to dodge and swerve around people who were standing and listening to the audio. I took pictures that really stood out to me the most and you can see them below; I didn't want to take pictures of every single painting...I feel like that defeats the purpose of giving meaning to them and enjoying the work in-person.

In all, it really was a nice experience and an even better date day which Justin and I really haven't had a true date day like this in a while so it was nice to do something different. I definitely recommend doing something like this...in fact, they are going to have a Van Gogh Exhibit coming to Charlotte sometime in June! So, buy your tickets now because they do sell out fast!
